Organization Overview

Monroe Area Soccer Association (MASA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth soccer club serving families across Monroe County. Founded to give local kids a place to play, MASA now runs programs for players from age six through high school: a recreational house league for first-time players, competitive travel teams under the Monroe United banner, indoor futsal through the winter, and skills camps and training sessions year-round. This fall the club is fielding roughly twenty-one teams. MASA maintains its own playing fields and hosts tournaments that bring visiting clubs and their families into Monroe for the weekend, including a new spring event named the Battle of the River Raisin.

The club is governed by a volunteer board that meets monthly. Board members are parents and community members who take on the unglamorous work behind a season: approving budgets, setting policy, negotiating field and league agreements, and signing off on every dollar spent. Over the past year the board has put real financial governance in place, adopting formal cash-handling and worker-classification policies and tightening how the club documents what it pays and to whom. Coaches are credentialed and supported with ongoing licensing and development.

Registration fees cover the basics. They do not cover everything. Referees, league dues, uniforms, field paint, goals, tournament entries and equipment all compete for the same dollar, and a club this size runs close to the line. Business sponsorship is what creates room between a program that survives and one that improves.

MASA is actively seeking sponsors from the Monroe business community. Support can take the form of team and jersey sponsorship, field and facility signage, tournament partnership, or underwriting a specific need. Sponsors are recognized in front of local families all season and at events that draw visitors into Monroe. Every sponsorship dollar stays in the program, and contributions are tax-deductible.
